Thirteen people have been shot and at least five are dead after a shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday
A shooter wearing a Star Wars T-shirt opened fire at the baggage carousel at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday, killing at least five people before being taken into custody, officials and witnesses said.
There is extreme amounts of security to get onto the plane, but this just shows how easy it was for this man to sneak into the baggage area and shoot several people.
Barbara Sharief of Broward County Mayor’s office said one gunman has been captured and is now in custody. There is some reports of a second gunman still in the airport, and some people say they have heard shots after the first gunman was caught.

Hundreds of people were standing on the tarmac as dozens of police cars and ambulances rushed to the scene.
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said in a tweet: “I’m at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Shots have been fired. Everyone is running.”
The shooter is in custody, and the motive is unknown at this time, law enforcement officials said. The airport tweeted that the incident took place at the Terminal 2 baggage claim area.
Hundreds of passengers and airport workers could be seen gathering and evacuating via the tarmac. The airport tweeted that all services are temporarily suspended and passengers should contact their air carrier about flight information.
The airport has four terminals and serves more than 73,000 travelers every day. It ranks 21st in the U.S. in total passenger traffic, with more than 650 commercial flights a day.
“I put my head down and prayed,” Schlicher said, adding that his wife gave first aid to someone who had been shot in the head.
His mother-in-law used her sweater to tend to another victim but it turned out that victim was already dead, Schlicher said.
The shooter reloaded once for a second burst of shooting, Schlicher said, but he could not say how many bullets were fired.
