ID’d as gunman in Fort Lauderdale airport shooting: Report

The gunman who shot multiple people at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that left five dead and at least thirteen injured has been identified as Esteban Santiago

Sen. Bill Nelson speaking on CNN, identified the gunman and also said he was carrying a military ID Card. The gunman was shot in the incident and is in custody.

The sheriff’s office said later clarified five were killed and thirteen people were injured and taken to area hospitals, though authorities did not specify whether all of the injured victims had suffered from gunshot wounds.

Some information has been released about Esteban Santiago:

1. Esteban Santiago is 26 years old.

2. He lives in Naples, Florida.

3. Is originally from New Jersey.

The identity of the gunman has not yet been confirmed by authorities, despite a man being named by the senator.

It is confirmed that the gunman’s weapon was in luggage, he went into the bathroom shortly after he got off the plane.
