Student Who Went On $4.6M Shopping Spree After Bank Accidentally Made Her A Millionaire Appears In Court

Christin Jiaxin made a mistake when she decided to spend $4.6 million dollars in a shopping spree after she was accidentally given an unlimited overdraft with the bank.

She has pleaded not guilty to dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Westpac bank made a processing error on the 21-year-old chemical engineering students account, and she was given an unlimited overdraft, meaning she could buy anything she wanted.

She allegedly received access to the funds when she was about to turn 18 in August 2012.

The student was granted bail in court on condition that she report twice daily to police in the Sydney suburb of Ryde, surrenders her emergency passport and lives with her boyfriend Vincent King in the suburb of Rhodes.

Christine was all over the headlines earlier this year when the news of her shopping spree was revealed. Some of the things that she purchased were:

Chanel cashmere pillow – $1,350

Cartier love bracelet – $9,000

Christian Louboutin boots – $2,500

Birkin Himalayan crocodile palladium bag – $158,225.67

Christine was arrested in May by immigration officials as she tried to fly from Sydney to Malaysia.
