This holiday season has been good for Amazon after they significantly beat expectations. The American electronic commerce and cloud computing company said they shipped nearly 1 billion products through its Prime and Fulfillment services, and receiving a record number of orders for its own Alexa devices.
Amazon Echo, also known as Alexa, is a voice command device that had 9 times more sales than the 2015 Holiday. Amazon said in a statement Tuesday. The Seattle-based company had trouble keeping them in stock despite “ramped-up production,” said Jeff Wilke, chief executive officer worldwide consumer.
The 2016 Holiday also showed a boost in sales from mobile devices, Amazon says they received 72% more sales from these devices.
“Echo and Echo Dot were the best-selling products across Amazon this year, and we’re thrilled that millions of new customers will be introduced to Alexa as a result,” Wilke said.
